Hurray, our 1st B Corp anniversary!
One year ago BR-ND got certified as B Corp! We believe that brands can contribute to a better, livable and honest world, in which organisations exist to add positive value to the society. These kinds of brands promote happiness, and well-being of people, in a sustainable way.
Special thanks to Alice Muurlink, with her support we have agreed on new activities to make more impact on the world around us and develop our company as a force for good. We feel the need to stretch ourselves further by how we promote and activate purpose-driven branding, how we positively interact socially and how we reduce our environmental foodprint.
Although we are a company with minor environmental impact, we did make improvement last year by changing the plastic packaging of the 23plusone boxes to cardboard. Also we now completely split our daily waste in paper based and others, we stopped using cardboard coffee cups and now are back to good old porcelain espresso cups and cappuccino mugs. Finally, we have made the first steps in changing our ownership structure by opening the possibility of co-workers to become minority shareholders. And as the second year of being a B Corp started, we got a handmade giant table made from beautiful local Elmwood! Starting this year, we introduced a weekly sports and fun event with the whole BR-ND team, to keep on moving which is good for our body and mind. Also, we have installed an Impact Board, to help us with their advice about how we, as a company, could even make more impact on society and think with us about difficult decisions and big investments.
About B Corp
Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. B Corps are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.
Society’s most challenging problems cannot be solved by government and nonprofits alone. The B Corp community works toward reduced inequality, lower levels of poverty, a healthier environment, stronger communities, and the creation of more high quality jobs with dignity and purpose. By harnessing the power of business, B Corps use profits and growth as a means to a greater end: positive impact for their employees, communities, and the environment.
